Outcast Metalworks

Welcome

At Outcast Metalworks we manufacture centrifugal aluminium and copper based castings engineered for industries where high performance and reliability are non-negotiable. But what makes centrifugal casting the superior choice?
The process harnesses rotational force to evenly distribute molten aluminium within a cylindrical mould, creating a casting with unmatched mechanical integrity. This technique promotes rapid solidification, resulting in fine, uniform grains that are smaller and more aligned than those found in traditional sand or die casting.
To reveal the microstructure of our castings under a microscope, we use an etching process with a dilute solution of sodium hydroxide (NaOH). On a microscopic level the refinement extends down to the dendritic structure—the microscopic tree-like patterns formed during cooling. In centrifugal casting, these structures are tightly packed and oriented radially, reducing weak points and enhancing overall strength.
On a macroscopic level, centrifugal castings are denser and free of common defects like porosity or inclusions. Impurities and gas pockets are pushed to the inner diameter by centrifugal force, leaving the critical outer surface pure and robust. The result is an aluminium or copper based component that offers superior fatigue resistance, ductility, and load-bearing capacity, making it ideal for demanding applications such as aerospace, automotive, and industrial machinery. Economically, the process ensures precise wall thickness, minimal material waste, and reduced machining needs.
Whether you’re a CEO requiring dependability, a procurement officer justifying a smarter choice, or simply someone curious about advanced engineering, Outcast Metalworks’ castings stand out for their strength, precision, and efficiency. Let us show you how our expertise in centrifugal casting can revolutionise your operations.

Alloy zcopper For Export

Continuous Cast LG2 prepped for export

Although alloy casting of semi-finished copper and aluminium alloys remains our core business, our business has evolved with the demands and needs of our customers, some with whom we have been doing business for many years.

Copper Alloy Ingots For Export

LM4 / Al-Si5Cu3 / EN-AC A45200 / AA 319 /AC2A - Ingots

How our business has changed gets noticed by our customers, as they observe the make up and composition of our stores.

On site CNC machining requires we keep a lot of hollow bar stock across multiple alloys

Stock for CNC machining

Available material makes turnaround times quicker for final product orders.

We now are able to cater to the needs of those customers, who use our hollow bar products in the manufacture of bushes and bushings. (A Bush or Bushing is a fixed or removable cylindrical tube or sleeve that provides an interface between two parts. It is used to constrain, guide, or reduce friction and is effectively one classification of the overall category of bearings and sometimes are referred to as Sleeve Bearings or Plain Bearings.)

These machined bushes must meet the functional Tribological demands of the engineeering application in which they are to be used. (Tribology is defined as the science and technology of interacting surfaces in relative motion. It includes the study and application of the principles of friction, lubrication and wear).

We have precison machining capabilities that allow us to meet tolerances reliably in mass produced components, where we have 4 sigma quality rates.

We can deal with large volume orders easily

We are now prossess mature CNC Milling & Turning capabilities and regularly work to tolerances of 5-10 microns.

We have precision machining capabilities that allow us to meet tolerances reliably in mass produced components, where we have 4 sigma quality rates.

Customers appreciate our non-ferrous machining abilities

We are able to machine to order large components, from a wide range of the different copper-alloys we cast.

The menu to the top left, provides detail on our Continuous, Centrifugal and Ingot castings, detail on the range of non-ferrous alloy products we produce, the detail around dimensions, as well as the finished product machining we can provide (bushes, bearing housings, pump components, flanges etc.) It also provides detail on the ISO9001:2015 QMS we have implemented, refined and embedded into our operational processes to ensure Quality can be guaranetted.

You can find out more about who we are, how to make contact with us and with whom in particular. Of course we welcome visitors and you will find the detail of how to get to us from the nearest airport serving international flights (O.R Tambo), and how to get to some of our strategic partners.
